Zune HD

Microsoft just officially announced the Zune HD! Some of the new features in the Zune HD:

  • OLED Touch screen in widescreen format (16:9) and resolution at 480×272
  • HD output with HDMI
  • HD Radio
  • Built-in browser with full screen browsing (Internet Explorer)

Not much detail of the Zune HD other than the one specified above. Unfortunately, Zune is still not available in Malaysia and I doubt that they are going to bring it here. 🙁 And I don’t think we have HD radio, so the feature will be useless. Just hope that they’ll release more info soon and see what the Zune HD can do!

Batch File Renamer

If you want to rename your files in batch, it can be pain in the ass if you use the Windows explorer to rename the files. But there are some handy tools out there that can help you to rename your files in batches. Two of the file renaming utility that I use are ReNamer and Ant Renamer. Both tools are easy to use and have some advance features that make renaming the files much easier.

Some of the common features that both programs have are string replacement, insertion, deletion. So, if you want to replace certain string (ie: DSC with Photo), you can use these functions to do it.

Internet Explorer 8: Released!

The final version Internet Explorer 8 is now available! You can get it at the IE official website. Some of the new features in IE8:

Accelerators – Accelerators let you do some of the common task much easier. All you need is just a few mouse clicks to get map directions, translate words, email your friends, and more…

InPrivate Browsing – Commonly known as ‘Pr0n mode’, InPrivate browsing let you browse the web without saving your history. Now you can ‘shop online’ *ahem* with confidence knowing your family won’t accidentally find out or use a shared computer without leaving a trace.

Web Slices – Keep up with changes to the sites you care about most. Add a Web Slice and you won’t have to go back to the same website again and again for updates on news, stock quotes, online auctions, weather, or even sports scores. But this is web page dependent and not all not website have web slices yet.

Search suggestions – Search smarter with detailed suggestions from your favorite search providers and browsing history. See visual previews and get suggested content topics while you type in the enhanced Instant Search Box.

SmartScreen Filter – New security features help to protect you against deceptive and malicious websites which can compromise your data, privacy and identity.

Yahoo! Messenger Worm/Virus

Yahoo Messenger spam

Recently I received a few spam messages from my friends in Yahoo Message. The spam usually look like this:

Wanna lose a lot of weight without diets or excercise? Kathy and I have both lost over 30 pounds in a couple weeks just by taking Acai pills daily, the same ones that Oprah talked about on her show. They are only five dollars to try, We get them from *******.com

or

Finally after all this time I found the only way to lose a lot of weight in just a few weeks and not have to diet or excercise. I seen it on Oprah and Cnn, ordered it and lost 36 pounds in just a few weeks and still losing, they have it now for only five dollars to try at ******.com

I cant find much information about this worm/virus, but remember not to click on any links that you think is suspicious! (even it is from your friend) Try asking your friend whether they send the message if you are unsure whether it is a spam or genuine message from your friend.

Lost Planet @ $5!

Lost Planet Extreme ConditionSteam is having their weekend deal again! This week they are offering 75% off on Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. The price after the discount is only $5! I think this is pretty cheap and worth to get it. I played the demo, and it is kinda good. But my aging PC cant let me enjoy the demo smoothly. 🙁

Capcom also announced the sequel of Lost Planet, so this is a great chance for you to get the first installment of the series before getting the sequel.
